Top O Tobago was quite simply the perfect place for two tired Midwesterners. The villa sits on a hill and overlooks the Arnos Vale Bay. We stayed in one of the cabanas which included a small kitchen area with all the necessary appliances for coffee making, a two top burner for cooking omeletes, microwave, nice refrigerator, etc. Another big plus was the juicer which we used everyday as the staff brought us freshly picked oranges and grapefruit from the property. The beds were comfortable with clean sheets. The bathroom had colorful ceramic tiles, clean towels and hot water. The room was large for two guests and the additional seating areas can be converted to beds, as it was when my 9 year old niece decided to stay with us for two days rather than with her grandparents who were staying someplace else.
As two female travelers we felt very safe on the property. There are cameras on the property, Huge Baker lives on the property with his two beautiful German Shepards and each living space has its own safe for valuables. The additional staff consists of two gardeners and a cleaning lady, so you get to know everyone who belongs on the property quickly.
This place is exactly like the website topotobago.com but more beautiful. Our favorite part was sitting at the gazebo patio on the rear of the cabanas and feeding birds. Of course, we waited till the last full day of the stay to snorkel Arnos Vale Bay. We saw turtles and swam with them for 15 minutes!! It was such a blessing, we could not believe it. This was for us the best snorkel on the island, the only place we saw schools of fish swimming.
You can not talk about this villa without mentioning the wonderful Huge Baker. He provided advice on restaurants, snorkel companies, rentals, and flight arrangement. The flight suggestions on Easter weekend were welcomed as we were able to get to the island without problem from Trinidad, but some guests did not make it.
You do need a vehicle if you plan to stay here if you want to get around the island. If you want to just sit and dream by the pool then you have paradise on the hill and a car is not required at all.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing romantic getaway in at Top O'Tobago. The villa was beautiful and charming - a perfect place to relax! There are several private beaches within walking distance of Top O Tobago which were ideal for picnic lunches and watching the sunset. I loved picking oranges and making fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast on our private balcony. Hugh Baker was a fantastic host, very helpful with information about sites on the island. I highly recommend this place - we definitely hope to come back!

We selected Top O Tobago based on the reviews on this website and in particular the one by Steve and Jill Wooler on the Top O Tobago website. The later is extremely comprehensive and accurate in every detail. We think it should be called the "Tops In Tobago". We toured the whole island and for our purposes we did not see another location we would have preferred - nothing came close.
A lot of thought has been put into the unique design and construction of the property all of which is of the highest quality. Furthermore the villa, cabanas and the grounds are immaculately maintained. We stayed in one of the cabanas for 2 weeks which was comfortable and well equipped and more than met our expectations and needs. Although the cabanas are relatively close to one another the design ensures adequate privacy. Sitting on the patio of the cabana was like being in a private aviary in an idyllic setting.
We commend Hugh Baker for being an incredible host, always there to help but without being intrusive. Hugh arranged car rental for us with KCNN Rentals who we are happy to recommend for their friendly and efficient service.
Top O Tobago is self catering so a supply of groceries is necessary. In this regard Gourmet Foods Supermarket is about 15 minutes drive and we were able to get all the food items we needed. We bought fruit and vegetables at local fruit stands all of which was fresh and top quality. Hats of to Top O Tobago we cannot recommend it too highly.
This was our first visit to Tobago and definitely not our last. It was wonderful in all respects and we had absolutely no negative experiences.

I stayed at Top O'Tobago with two friends for several days this past February after Carnival in Trinidad. It was the PERFECT cool-down spot. I experienced true rest and relaxation like never before. I have to say with all honesty that 3 days was not enough. As soon as we arrived, we knew that we had discovered a piece of paradise! The rooms were spacious and clean, and Hugh, the care-taker, was an added bonus. He went far out of his way in order to make our stay pleasant. We spent the days exploring hidden beaches, the property's hiking trails and bamboo-meditation grove and the evenings cooking, laughing, and lounging in our hammock, enjoying the hilltop view. The staff was very pleasant and we all felt safe and well taken-care-of. My trip is one to be remembered, and I plan on returning to Top O'Tobago as soon as possible. The view from the pool at the top of the property with breath-taking ocean and sunset views is calling my name.

Despite the fact that it rained for the 4 days of our stay here pretty much non-stop and that the well-regarded manager Hugh Baker was away himself on vacation, we had a terrific time here. The location is in our lengthy experience unmatched anywhere in the world and is simply breathtaking. It is truly a tropical paradise - complete with magnificent flora, fauna and an amazing selection of birdlife - much of it unique to Tobago.
The accomodation in a very colourfully and exotically furnished Cabana, complete with own terrace and amazing views overlooking both the leeward-facing sea as well as a mini tropical forest was unfaultable.
The service by the acting manager Hyacinth was good - as was the smile we encountered every day from Zamboo the ever helpful gardener/handyman.Zamboo on one occasion even showed us the amazing sight of a small boa constrictor snake woofing down one of the indigent birds, a Cocorico - the national Tobagonian turkey-like bird which is classified also as vermin! The bird was actually larger than the snake eating it!
All in all, we enjoyed a great stay within an unrivalled and relaxed setting - an amazing place to chill out!
