This was our second stay at Ali Baba's, with our first occurring two years ago. Castara is a fantastic little village. We were happy to find the stingray room to be nearly identical to the turtle room where we stayed previously. While the outdoor deck area for stingray has more sun exposure, at least one of us enjoyed the deck two years ago more because the strong heat from the sun Limited the time that we spent oUT there this time around. In addition, it seemed like we had a few more bird and iguana visitors in front of turtle than we did in front of stingray. Fantastic to be able to do self catering there. The kitchen was clean and there was enough room to cook comfortably. Also nice to have several restaurants nearby when we want to eat out. Just loved the snorkeling out front and are looking forward 2 our visit next year. This time we also had the pleasure of a day out with Alibaba for a wonderful tour. While the sunset from the deck is nice , going down to the beach gives you a better Vista for pictures, FYI. Stephanie has been helpful and accommodating whenever we needed to communicate with her.

I stayed at Ailbaba's for a week in January 2016. The accommodation itself was clean and comfortable and well appointed. I appreciated the quality of the bed and all the linen, which was changed frequently. Although not particularly spacious, the apartment was certainly more than adequate.. My balcony overlooked the sea, and the sound of the waves was a constant presence. I enjoyed this, though others may find it rather loud. I assume that the upkeep of housing must be difficult in the constant heat and humidity, and feel that the owners do a good job in keeping on top of this.

I did not leave until approx 3pm on my last day, and needed to vacate my room earlier for cleaning before the next guest arrived, but was very pleased at being able to have a shower made available with fresh towels and hairdryer etc.

There is a nearby bar restaurant which has a 'party' night once a week, and they also hosted a wedding during the week I was there. On both occasions the music was quite loud, and continued until quite late. Again, this did not particularly bother me, but may not suit everyone.

All in all I would certainly recommend Ailbaba's.

This is such a beautiful area and we truly enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen worked fabulous and the room was very comfortable. The best part was the view and all the wonderful birds that would come visit on our deck. The place was quiet and we had great fun snorkeling and walking along the beach. Loved the indoor/outdoor living. I do recommend long pants in the evening for protection from the mosquitos.

We will surely be back for a future visit! :)

This was our second visit to Tobago and Alibaba’s, the first one being three years ago.

Returning to Tobago for a second and this time longer visit was not a difficult decision as it is an idyllic setting for a chill out, wind down type of vacation, which is exactly what we look for. It was also a forgone conclusion that if we returned to Tobago we would return to Castara and Alibaba’s Sea Breeze apartments as we had a wonderful time on our first visit.

Being directly on the beach and adjacent to a beach bar which serves excellent food and has an extremely relaxed and friendly atmosphere, (thanks Sharon:) it is an ideal spot to relax and do a little snorkelling over the reef but as you also have hire car facilities directly on site it is very convenient for the days you decide to explore the rest of the island or visit another beach.

We were fortunate enough to have the new addition to the apartment line up which is situated above Stephanie and Alibaba’s own accommodation and has a fabulous view over the two bays of Castara, cooling down in the evening looking over the bay from the apartment terrace is a special experience!

The apartment offers spacious and comfortable accommodation with everything you need in a holiday apartment including cooking facilities should you need them, the bathroom is equipped with a large walk in shower which I appreciate and the rooms are cleaned daily with regular fresh bed linen and towels etc. I personally don’t need any more.

Stephanie and Alibaba are extremely friendly and helpful and are passionate about the island, Castara and its future, I would highly recommend spending some time with them.

We will return for another visit for sure.

Wow! Absolutely loved this place.

Stephanie gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived and showed us our room and all the amenities. We were in the 'Iguana' room, which was very apt as there is a huge iguana which lives in the trees outside, which was very entertaining!

The apartment has a shower room (great shower! And lots of storage space for your toiletries), a sleeping area (very comfy bed with a mosquito net and a big wardrobe/storage area), a kitchen, (with a cooker, fridge, sink and plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils), and then the balcony - fabulous! It looks out right onto the beach/reef and was just amazing - we saw a big spotted stingray one morning and fish and eels in the reef - as well as all the birds flying round. The little washing line to hang swimming costumes out to dry was a nice touch!

The beach is literally a minute's walk from the apartment and we had a great time swimming in the bay cooling off from the heat and snorkelling. There's a great bar/restaurant on the beach which is run by Steph's sister-in-law, Sharon - be sure to visit!

There are also other restaurants in Castara, though with most Tobago establishments opening times are a little haphazard! Also plenty of mini-marts to stock up on items to cook back at base. The fruit shop at the top of hill when you drive down to Alibaba's is particularly good.

We can't recommend this place enough - and will definitely return!
