Bananaquit - Reader Reports & Opinion

Guest Report

Julia D from U.K. visited in August 2005 and awarded  Three out of Five

I stayed here on my first 2 nights in Tobago. The Bananaquit is very conveniently located for the airport (within easy walking distance, depending how much luggage you have!) and a 5 minute walk to Store Bay. Our room was large and clean, with a/c, kitchen, eating area (both inside and outside), bathroom and tv. Most of the rooms are set around a lovely little garden and guests are able to use the swimming pool at the neighbouring hotel. The lock on our door was broken, but fixed very efficiently while we were at the beach.

Have been checking out the forum for a while for any thoughts on Bananaquit, as we've booked a couple of weeks there at the end of August. Does anyone have any experience of this property? From the email communciation I've had with them, everything sounds positive!

We're so looking forward to this holiday!

Banaquit Crown Point

Zora Lawrence

We stayed there at the beginning and end of our holiday. It is perfect as a base - clean,a/c, nice kitchen and cable TV overlooking a nice garden. The owners are unobtrusive - they actually reduced our room rate when we arrived from $50 per night to $35! That hasn't happened to us before!

Bananaquit is about 5 minutes walk from Store Bay Beach and 4 minutes walk from the airport. Perfect. We checked in with our bags at 4.00pm then went back to BQ and relaxed before boarding at 6.40pm. Far better than hanging around the airport for hours - they didn't charge us extra either!

Bananaquit Apartments....any Info Please

Lorrie Ross

Will be traveling to TOBAGO for the first time (arrive in the morning of the 7th Feb.)

I have been to lots of sites trying to be prepared....we would like to stay at a few spots....but because we arrive on the first day of Carnival....

we booked for a few nights at the Bananaquit. The site I found this place on showed pics of the room, and it seemed quite nice. I talked to the lady (Elaine Best) and she seemed very nice. It is close to beaches, and until we get familiar with surroundings, I thought this place would be nice. Would appreciate any info on the place :P thanks

Also, I would like to know what would be an inexpensive treat to take along to give to people and children we meet...what have you heard that they would like? (being from Canada, when I was in Mexico, the children liked Canadian stickers, pins, and gum.)

Any feedback on this would be great! :D

What A Wonderful Place

Angus Wood-salomon

My wife, daughter, son in law, grandson of 2 1/2 years and I just spent three great days here from April 19th to 21st. The Best's were fantastic hosts and did everything in their power to accomodate us.

We were privileged to stay in the very spacious upstairs apartment that included a kitchenette, living room, a bedroom with a double bed and A/C, plus a very large bedroom in the loft that had another double bed and two single beds, this bedroom is so large that if needed another single or double bed could be added with room to spare.

This apartment faced the main road and on the main floor, it has a large verandah where we ate our meals and spent most of our time when we were there. The Kitchenette had all of the cooking utensils that were needed, dishes, cups, saucers glasses as a matter of fact everything like home.

I surely felt privileged to stay at such a wonderful place, we definitely will be back.
