What a fantastic place. If you want an island retreat, you couldn't choose a more perfect spot. It is secluded and an ideal beach holiday away from the crowds. I loved the view from the open veranda, the great local bars and restaurants and the incredible variety of wildlife around and about - make sure you do the forest walks with a guide. Snorkelling is great. Fruit man delivering fruit on demand adds to the pleasure of breakfast and the fresh fish on sale on the beach each day is great for dinner. Go and try it - you won't regret it. Remember to order your bread from the local bakery.

We have just returned from a very relaxing and enjoyable week at Carpe Diem, our only regret being that we did not book 2 weeks! It's a great place to stay if you are looking for a laid back, easy going holiday. The views from the terrace across the village to the sea and hills beyond are wonderful, with the extra benefit of the sunsets each evening. At the end of the terrace is a bird table where we put bread and fruit and we were rewarded with visits by many varied and colourful birds. The local chickens clean up any crumbs dropped by the birds!

The studio where we stayed is well equipped, with hot showers and safe drinking water. If you want to cook, there is everything necessary in the kitchen, but there are several places to eat in Castara too. We recommend the BBQ at the Naturalist and the pizzas at Marguarite's (need to book for these the day before).

The owners Chris and Yvonne made us very welcome, they are helpful and concerned to make your stay successful.

Castara is a safe place to visit, the sandy beach is very pretty, backed by palm trees and always busy with fishermen.

We had a great meal at the King's Bay Cafe, high up in a dramatic spot overlooking the bay, south of Charlotville. Fresh fish with a tasty home made sauce, home made bread and brownies to die for! Very reasonable prices too.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay. The apartments are very well appointed, with very comfortable beds. I have to agree with Chris & Yvonne (the owners) that they have the best view in Castara. Our hosts couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. Also, the apartments are excellent value for money. I have stayed elsewhere in Castara, but would recommend Carpe Diem to anyone.

This was a very affordable and accommodating apartment. Simple but comfortable, with a perfect view and a short walk to the beach. The neighbor, Troy, who I believe is also the caretaker, was very pleasant and mellow. With our reservations, arrangements were made for us to be picked up at the airport. The driver was nice enough to stop at the Penny Savers on the way for us to shop for food, beer and of course punch. We were in our apartment and cooking dinner not long after we landed. It was absolutely perfect. I would certainly recommend Villa Carpe Diem to anyone going to Tobago in search of a non-resort/tourist trap vacation.

I have just returned from an amazing holiday in Castara, I stayed in one of the lovely en-suite rooms in the upstairs apartment at Villa Carpe Diem and would fully recommend this self-catering apartment to anyone. It is very well equipped, clean, spacious and comfortable and has everything you might need to be able to cater for yourself. The upstairs balcony is huge; it stretches the whole length of the house and has stunning views of the bay, rainforest and village and is the perfect place to enjoy a cold 'Carib' beer whilst watching the beautiful sunsets.

Carpe Diem is only a few minutes walk from the beaches on both 'big bay' and 'little bay' where we enjoyed many hours of snorkelling and fun identifying the colourful fishes. On a Wednesday evening we enjoyed listening to the local drum music at the Boathouse bar on little bay (a bit of limbo practice before you go might put you in with a chance of winning a bottle of rum)!

I had a perfect holiday and would recommend Castara and the Villa Carpe Diem apartments to anyone who wants an amazing, memorable holiday :-)
