I have just returned from the most fabulous holiday in Tobago, staying with my two grown up children in Warm Breezes. We went to celebrate my sons 30th birthday and we could not have spent it in a more beautiful place!!

The apartment is huge. More than enough room for at least six people so we three had more than enough room to spend together and also to have time alone. The veranda on three sides has two hammocks one dining area and a seated area which gave us wonderful views ( even watching a couple of hens walking up the road was interesting!! ) The lovely Peggy was there every day to tidy up etc and we loved her and really looked forward to seeing her.

There are beautiful wind chimes in every room and a few outside, the sound is lovely and if you ask, as l did, the ones outside are for sale. So now l have a daily reminder of a wonderful holiday when l look at my chime. We all became bird watchers as the variety of birds that will visit was vast, together with butterflies and the occasional lizard we almost did not need to go out!!.

Down the road is Pleasant Prospect, just a few small buildings, a couple of restaurants The Fish Pot, lovely food and a good atmosphere. Marie’s consists of one table outside and choosing to eat whatever is available on the day. This is exactly why we chose to go to Tobago, to meet the local people and spend time “liming” with them, it is a completely different way of life than we experience here in England and one that many people envy. The laid back attitude and genuine friendliness and warmth from people that have so little money but so much love and generosity was worth the 9 hour flight!!

Gill and Paul were the perfect hosts, l feel that from the moment that we met that we had come to the right place, almost like coming home. Both are genuine caring people and made us feel so welcome. They were available daily for any questions regarding the island and making the most of the short time that we were there. Introducing us to Neil who took us on a tour of the island and was quickly adopted as part of our family! Also dropping us at Ru B Lou’s for cocktails and music and Sunday School to eat at Sachas and dance to the steel pans playing Christmas carols, an experience we will never forget.

Walking down the road and visiting the bird sanctuary was a great experience as we got there at feeding time, so many beautiful birds. Also a bit further down the road was the beautiful Grafton beach and l feel that if we had gone nowhere else we would have been quite content to spend the holiday there, lovely beach, not many people, palm trees and pelicans. However a short walk in the opposite direction was Mt Irvine beach, good for surfing and great roti from a stall beside the road if you get there at lunchtime. Later on when the fishermen come back you can buy fresh fish very cheaply, great to put on the barbeque beside the pool in the evening.

It was the most wonderful holiday and was not spoiled by the delay at the airport, as it is hardly a hardship to leave your luggage at the airport to go to Crown Point to have a cocktail and watch to sunset, then pop into Bonkers for supper. Fabulous!!!!

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for our vacation 2008. We were kinda disappointed.

Too many mosquitos and the space was also too small, we kept bumping into each other (not a bad thing at all)all the time.

The bathroom walls could have been much cleaner, poor lighting in the rooms and the maid service "Peggy" a lot to be desired.

There really isn't any view from the cottage only through the kitchen window.

The ONLY plus is that all utensils in the kitchen were provided.

We will never return there. A real let down.

We stayed in the upper part of the villa during June/ July 2007. It is a beautiful villa with everything you need for a self catering holiday. It did include the sole use of the plunge pool, which was a delight. The owners were extremely friendly and very helpful.

The only downside to this villa was the surrounding noise. We were constantly kept awake every night by the barking packs of dogs that roam the area. The neighbours on both sides also had dogs which were tied up all of the time, and howled continually. It spoiled our holiday, as there was no peace from them at any time.

As the villa is built above the area where the few shops, bar and restaurants are, there is a fair amount of noise from them and the passing traffic.

Overall, the villa was wonderful, if only it could be moved somewhere else!

For anyone who wants or needs the complete antidote to a hectic lifestyle - visit Hibiscus Heights. We had a fantastic time and the property was even better than dipicted on the website. We stayed in Warm Breezes, which certainly lives up to it's name. Beautiful sea views from the veranda which wraps around three sides of the property. Shuttered bedrooms with fantastic sea views to the master bedroom, a great pool for relaxing and cooling down..perfect.

We were extremely lazy and Peggy the housekeeper made our holiday even more relaxing - a whole week without having to wash pots or make up the beds!! Thank you Peggy.

We recommend the Harlequin at Pleasant Prospect - sit on the balcony at the property with a glass of wine, wait for the tree lights at the Harlequin to be lit and then wonder down the hill for supper. We had one of the best meals of the holiday, at the best price. The ambiance and friendliness of the staff made it even more enjoyable.

Grafton Beach (Stonehaven) is a lovely beach, but the sea is rougher here. Great if you enjoy larger waves. An evening walk along the beach is beautiful, especially if you can catch the sunset.

Don't miss a visit to Arnos Vale. The sea is as clear as a mountain spring, the fish are beautiful. Park in the hotel car park. You can hire snorkels for the day and you don't have to swim out far to see some great fish. Excellent for kids. We had a great morning, made even more special by one of the locals providing us with fresh mangos!

Warm Breezes is perfect - our kids were (admittedly) happy to watch the disney channel when they needed to cool down! We enjoyed listening to some of the CDs on offer in the evening.

The only problem with the holiday, is that we had to come back home!! We only hope we find our way back to Hisbiscus Heights in the future. Thanks for a great memorable holiday.

We spent 5 days in the well-appointed and comfortable 'Sweet Nest' at Hibiscus Heights. It's the perfect space for a couple, with a set-up including an outdoor grill, patio and table, separate (indoor) dining table, tv/dvd (with movies there for you), and a nice four-poster bed. Everything has been well-planned and makes for a cozy space. We would definitely stay again. Paul and Gillian are knowledgable and great hosts - for everything from a car rental to groceries, they can hook you up.

Hibiscus Heights is just up de road (1 minute walk) from the village of Pleasant Prospect where you can find great food at Fish Pot (check out the live music on Fridays), take out from Joanne's, or great grilled fish from Harlequin. Although the Moon over Water's bass-heavy reggae and dancehall vibes can get tiring for the whole village, by the end of our stay the volume levels were coming down to a more reasonable level. On the bright side, next door is a super internet cafe run by a young entrepreneur. Ask for "Pretty Paul".

Further down the road and across the highway are the beaches of Grafton/Black Rock. A great beach for limin the day away, taking a swim or a nap, or a walk. Check the happy hour at the Seahorse for a great cocktail and sunset view. Hibiscus is also really close to Grange Bay, Mt. Irvine beach, and Turtle beach. If you love the water, you will love Tobago.

Enjoy the island vibes. And be "just cool".
