Hi Everyone,

I traveled in a group of 7 this year to Castara Tobago. This is the second year I have stayed at Hidden Cottage. Four adults and three children used the 3 bedroom unit. It is more than satisfactory in its ammenities to accomodate that many people. The space is clean and the beds, furniture, tables and chairs are all in great condition. The air conditioner in the small bedroom needs replaced but the two other rooms have upgraded and work great. The kitchen is well equipped and has ample plates, cookware and utensils. I missed the art on the walls but am of the understanding that it was taken down for painting purposes and did not get re-hung. Outside is fabulous. The new pool is so nice. After your walk up the hill it is a great way to cool down your core temperature and relax some more. The balcony, outside tables and bird feeder only enhance the ideal surroundings. The driver from the airport Raymond, the housekeepers and our property manager were all very professional and sweet. I recommend this property to familys, friends and anyone who does not have mobility issues as it is up a fairly steep incline and has plenty of steps down to the property. I'll return with anticipation another time. Cheers!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Hummingbird apartment. It was nice and comfortable but the shower was a bit too small and felt cramped. The apartment gets VERY hot during the day but once you let it cool down with the AC it's okay. During our stay there were some water issues throughout the island and we had to call the manager of the place for assistance and our problem was resolved quite quickly. Overall we had a comfortable stay. It's a small village and everyone seems to know each other and this creates a nice family vibe.

I stayed in the Hummingbird room at Hidden Cottage; and was made welcome before I even arrived in Tobago. The accommodations were perfect, the service very responsive, and the price very competitive. Selvin made me welcome from first contact to well after my stay. Jim, the manager, was always helpful with information, and service. The AC had gone out, and he had the entire unit replaced in less 24 hours. Edith is the caretaker, and did a great job with my laundry service. Hidden Cottage is a great place, nicely hidden on the hillside, overlooking Castara Village. I would recommend to anyone staying in Tobago; and to anyone looking for a vacation destination.

Our family (6 adults of various age and one toddler) had a great time in Castara and enjoyed our stay at Hidden Cottage very much. From the porch we could see agouti, lizards, numerous species of birds and more. We will definately recommend it to our friends. Jim, Raymond and everyone else in the village were truly friendly even though you are there as a tourist the villagers make you feel more like a part of the village than a foreign visitor.

The whole of Tobago has a relaxed vibe and amazing nature/wildlife.

Our group was in dire need of a vacation. We researched countless properties in Tobago, looking for somewhere to relax, somewhere peaceful and beautiful where we could recharge our batteries without feeling too isolated from everyone else. The Mot Mot rental in Hidden Cottage was everything and more we could have wanted! Here is a breakdown of our experience:

Communication -

The owner, Selvin, was kind and helpful from the start. He answered all of our questions and provided very useful information about the area before we travelled, so we knew exactly what to expect and how to prepare. Kyle, the caretaker, ensured that the place was bright and clean upon arrival, and was able to advise us of all the local activities we might experience. Selvin even checked in with us during our stay to make sure all was well. We knew that we could contact either of them if we needed anything.

Location -

Hidden Cottage is built on a hill, but this isn't too steep to climb. It overlooks a small, lush valley of fruit trees and receives fresh, cool breezes day and night. Mot Mot itself is located on the ground floor, and the Hummingbird Apartment on the first floor. The Mot Mot bird for which the house was named will come visit you as you take your meals on the porch or the poolside. We were lucky enough to have a couple of them check in every day :)

The Village

Castara is truthfully such a lovely place to stay. There are quite a few local shops to visit (fruit is abundant, fairly cheap and so delicious), a waterfall located just beyond the football field, the fish market on evenings, T'keyah's Place for a drink or two, the Cascreole Bar and Beach Club for dinner, beautiful Castara Bay itself, beach bonfires at night... the list goes on and on. Everything is within walking distance from Hidden Cottage.

Amenities -

Mot Mot offers the works: air conditioned bedrooms, hot and cold water, free wifi and even a little pool which can comfortably hold 3-4 adults if used for simple relaxation. We came with two cars, and were able to park one just outside the cottage and another just overlooking the pool. The floors are polished wood in most places and although a few floorboards are slightly creaky, we thought this added to the charm of the place. The entire place was clean with an extremely friendly, comfortable feel. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with a coffee maker, toaster, stove, blender, fridge, cooking pots and many items of dinnerware. We made full use of them : ) There is no tv set, but honestly there was no need for one. The natural surroundings, village events and nearby attractions kept us more than entertained!

Our heartfelt thanks to Selvin and Kyle for helping us arrange what was truly a wonderful holiday. We can't wait to come back!
