My husband and I, and our 13 year old son, stayed at the Harris Guest House from 4-8 March and again 16-18 March, in between we took the ferry to Trinidad to watch the cricket and explore the larger island. The owner, Harris McDonald, met us at the airport, took us to the local supermarket the first evening to get food and generally helped us settle in. The Guest House is well down Golden Grove Road, in a quiet location away from the busy main road to Scarborough. It was only a short walk to the nearest shop (really a kiosk), the Beatitude Stores, a real insight into how ordinary Tobagans live.

As to facilities, there was air conditioning in the room, plenty of hot water, a laundry room, tv in the room and in the communal eating/sitting area. If you do not hire a car, and we did not, it is quite easy to get the bus or a route taxi from the main road: the beach is too far to walk. It is possible to book a Caribbean breakfast or an evening meal at the Guest House: we did this once and both meals were really enjoyable. Harris McDonald is a tour guide so he is an invaluable source of advice. If you visit, do try to take one of Harris' Jungle Tours into the National rain forest: a memorable experience.
