If you are looking for that picturesque setting of easy going beach life, the Beach House may be the best place in the Caribbean. It offers a 'rustic' feel but with just the right amount of amenities of modern living. We stayed at Coconut Heights which provides a one bedroom flat on the second floor of the building. The view from the flat is unbelievable looking out at the bay with the sun set every night. It couldn't be any more ideal. The location is perfect for those people looking for a less 'touristy' holiday. Castara is a beautiful fishing village with just the right amount of tourists to have proper tours, restaurants, car rental places, etc. but without the constant t-shirt and trinket shops.

The flat itself has a nice size bedroom with a full bed, a bathroom, a shower, a kitchen, and a very nice living room/dining room. The walls are almost all open in the common areas (which is great since the weather is perfect) with slatted window closures in the bedroom and bathroom for privacy. The entire flat is decorated with the home owners decoration making the entire place feel very much at home. The furniture and bed are both comfortable. The kitchen provides all the plates, pans, utensils, etc. to prepare any dish your heart desires. Just be sure to stock up on supplies before heading out to Castara (or even better - ask Porridge, the caretaker for a pick up from the airport and he will take you there).

Be sure to put fruit and bread in the bird feeders. You're in for a treat with all the different birds that will eat at it each morning. Be sure to lay in the hammock and watch the sunset. Be sure to relax and have fun.

We plan on going back as soon as we can.

One last remark - those looking for a '5 star experience' should probably stay somewhere else. The Beach House provides enough 'comfort' from home, but assumes you will be able to care for yourself and find and an adventure for yourself which is ideal for my holiday trips.
