Marguarite certainly looked after us.
We stayed in the newer single bed house for a week 17th - 24th of February and totaly enjoyed ourselves.
Need to be fit, steep walk up to the house....clue is in the name.

We didn't have a problem with noise and found it peacfull, our neighbours were quiet and respectful.
The houses are 3 meters apart.

The floor standing fan kept us cool at night, mosquito nets efficient, double bed a decent size.
Cooking facilities good, kitchen seperate from the main accommodation keeping the bedroom cool and cooking odour free.
It has a nice large fridge for the local essentials (rum and coconut water not supplied)
Good gas cooker, toaster, kettle, lots of pans and plates in good condition.

Only things we needed to supply were salt pepper, garlic crusher and clothes pegs so can't complain.

We were Jealous at first as the adjacent 2 bed accomodation has a large veranda, bbq, and new garden funiture.
Our small veranda though was perfectly adequate, the table and chairs new and comfortable for breakfast, evening meals and sundowner(s).
It is well covered, cosy to watch the rain which although short in duration is torrential, then everything steams.
We were out every day to the beaches and rainforest walking.
No need for a sunbed.

Lovely place for wildlife.
Lots of wild hens around they even left us an egg.
Bird watchers paradise.
We were feeding the Blue Crowned Mot Mot's, Banaquit's, Blue Grey Tanagers
on the veranda, so tame.

Sherwin very kind, practical, helpful and excellent chef to boot.
A visit to their restaurant in Castara is a must.
We arranged car hire through him and he taxied us back to the airport.
Very reliable and on time.

There is a small deserted wild beach just down the road if you cut alongside the cemetary. It is a steep track down through the rainforest.

Castara itself is a 20 minute stroll down and 25 minutes yomp back.
It's a working fishing village. good beach, a few nice restuarants bars and a small supermarket.
No disco's
You can take your own bag to the fish market in the afternoon for the fresh fish at a few TT$

The other beaches along the coast are within easy car drive, The best being toward Speyside. These are Bounty bar advert stunning, snorkling excellent.

Would recommend hiring a car to explore the coast and forest.
Gilpin Trace is worth a day.

Hope this is helpful
We would go back.

Elaine & Richard
