We first set eyes on the Pink House 6 years ago during our stay at the Mount Hay Retreat in February 2004.

It could be glimpsed from the balcony of our suite, a few hundred metres away, perched on the very top of Mahogany Ridge.

Back then we were told that the Pink House was for sale and we had one of those 'If only we could win the lottery' wishfull thinking moments.

Fast forward to 2010 and we have just returned from a week's stay at the Pink House (having still not won the lottery yet).

A week was, of course, far too short a time for any holiday on Tobago, but due to work commitments etc. a week was all we could spare.

So, down to the review.

Having used the excellent reports here on MyTobago as a basis for my research and following the link to the owner's website I was pretty much familiar with what to expect, but
I didn't tell Lyn where we were staying, as I wanted this to be a surprise.

My subterfuge was enhanced by the fact that we arrived later than scheduled, due to a flight delay, so it was dark as we headed away from Crown Point in our hire car.
(I knew the way, but those who don't, can be escorted to the Pink House)

Fifteen minutes later and entering Black Rock, Lyn was still none the wiser and even when I took the familiar right turn up the steep and winding lane towards the ridge, she was still guessing.

Pulling up to the gated drive of the Pink House the penny at last dropped and we were greeted by manager Susan who showed us around.

I could tell Lyn was happy with my choice, as she was unsusually quiet, as Susan familiarised us with the lay-out of the ground floor. One of Understated elegance is how I would describe my first impression.

The upstairs master suite was, to say the least, jaw-droppingly impressive. Without doubt the Jewel in the crown.

Owner Sandra then came over from her cottage to offer a welcome drink and we chatted for a while before the effects of our long journey overcame us.

I got up early (still dark) to go fishing for a few hours and when I returned, Lyn was having a cup of tea on the verandah, over-looking the swimming pool, the extensive gardens and beyond, the Grafton bird sanctuary and then a stunning view of Courland Bay.

'What do you think?' I asked.
'It's perfect' was her reply.

Readers of the previous reviews will have read about the facilities at the Pink House, so I won't repeat what has already been written as it's all true.

In fact it is hard to find the words to truly convey how much we enjoyed our stay at the Pink House adequately, but to sum up, the words that do come easily to mind are -
Serene
Peaceful
Tranquil
Relaxing
Carefree
Chilled
Restful
Heavenly
Revitalising
Invigorating
Beautiful
Perfect
and

When can we go back again?.
