My family and I were looking for a home-like atmosphere away from home and we almost found it at Sunset Reef Villa. The villa itself is well designed with a lovely pool and amazing views from the upper bedrooms and the balcony. The beach is really a 2 minute walk away. The house itself is clean and comfortable.
However the bathrooms and kitchen need some serious refurbishment. The bathrooms were clean and working but there were a lot of cracks in the bathtub. The kitchen itself is in need of a total overhaul, it is old with very used dishes and utensils. The surroundings were not very well kept, the yard was dirty, the garden a bit overgrown and the telephone booth shower was covered with scum.
That being said, we did enjoy ourselves thoroughly. It's an excellent location. We enjoyed early morning sea bathing, breakfast on the balcony with the birds, sunset views, the pool, even a movie in the little entertainment room. The housekeeper is very friendly and efficient and explained to us that the owners are having some financial difficulties which would explain the state of the villa.
We do hope that they can fix up the place to its former standard (from the reviews in the guestbook) so that we can return one day.
