Hi Rick, Tobago is tropical and never gets anywhere near freezing and days are similar length all year (19c was the lowest I ever saw, just prior to a storm) so provided small cropping farmers water in the dry season, everything seems to grow all year around. However, while you can buy locally grown F&V from roadside stalls and the town market, often the majority of produce to be found in supermarkets is imported, often from your own nation amongst others. Therefore the stores do sometimes run out of produce when awaiting imports etc, due to the economics of a small island, and you may pay more than at home when things are available. But it is possible to buy local pineapples, peppers, tropical fruits and much more.

Rick, you would normally find mango season kicking in around May to around August, avocadoes usually start a little later - June to September. However it does depend on the rainfall as well. Close to Christmas you will also find portugals and mandarins, which are also seasonal here.

Hi Rick & Rachel..Thank you,
Good idea Rick, to get somewhat of an idea when things might be in season..I do understand climate change, etc has effected a lot of crops.
Thank you Rachel for your info....
a few more things I would like to have some idea when in season:
bagi (there seems to be two different types; different times of year?)
rough lemons...grapefruits seem to be hit and miss...limes (Dec-Feb?)
paki choy or as I know it bok choy
bodi
butternut squash...What I would call pumpkin seems to be around most of the time...should I expect?
At the moment lots of lettuce around and expensive not so tasty tomatoes.
Cheers, Carol
