Hi Rick

Go to menu Tobago > Maps & Regions of Tobago then choose the 'Satellite' tab (or click on the map/web page illustration in the middle of the page. After the map and markers have loaded, the easiest way to find Public Demand is to switch off (untick) ALL the option boxes beneath the map, except 'Food Stores'.

Public Demand are the third icon from the left (Store Bay area). Click or use the regular controls to zoom in and see the location at street level.

We have used Public Demand for some years and they are pretty good. Try to hit them at the end of the week when they get fresh stocks. In the last couple of years, we have tended to switch to the Bonn Accord Food Basket however, mainly because they are much more helpful and don't exhibit the 'attitude' issues of staff at Public Demand.

By the way, both shops are not the usual small veg stands that you will be familiar with - they are full air-conditioned shop units.

Unless there is now a parking lot at Food Basket I won't go there very often. Parking on the street there can be very dangerous.

I find that the 'attitude' is on and off at Public Demand. They get most of their deliveries on Thursdays.

Hi Hugh

Yes, that is so very true - it is very variable and some of the staff can be very helpful. I think they've improved a lot since the Bon Accord Food Basket opened.

Yes, you are right about the parking being dangerous. However, there is parking at the Food Basket. Immediately to the right of the store there is a narrow driveway that drops down to a reasonably-sized parking area. Even better, you can access this parking area from the rear. You will be familiar with the large building 100m east of the Food Basket - the Calvary Road Deliverance Tabernacle - well, turn in there (Bon Accord Estate Road) then take the first turning left, immediately after the tabernacle. That brings you straight into the Food Basket parking lot - much safer than trying to park on the road.

If you have Google Earth, download www.myTobago.info/maps/mytobago.kmz and check it out. :)

Hi All
I'm rather surprised at the comment of "attitude"...we have been going to Public Demand for a long time after Ronald very nicely advised of it. We have had nothing but helpful assistance. ("looking for something, let me look in the back" or will try to order more of that next week")..maybe just lucky. My only complaint is getting there too soon on Friday when still trying to get deliveries sorted or early enough on Sunday before the crowds wipe out everything.. Perhaps will give the other place a try when enable to get what I had hoped for....any info on approx days and hours (Sat??). Thanks
Cheers Carol

When we are at that end of the Island we like to use the stand that is at the town end of Stumpy's (and small mall) parking lot. Last year he would bring veggies up to Charlotteville on Thursday night and sell on Friday. I hope he is still open. He has a good selection and good prices. We also use the Food Basket. Phil

We use the 'church access' to the Bon Accord Food Basket all time time. Very convenient, even if there is a packed church service, you can still get access. We throw a lot of business at the Bon Accord Food Basket, in part because we stay on Estate Road, and can walk there (if it is not too hot!), but also because they keep good stock, and are less zonked than the Penny Savers which can get VERY busy in parts of the week.
