We have stayed in Tobago my times and love the island and people. We have previously stayed at Hawksbill and Waterfall villa. We decided on Yellowbird for its position and size. The villa is a beautiful property but unfortunately it has not been maintained, we understood that new owners had purchased the property at the beginning of 2015. We booked the villa January 2015 for two weeks from 31st October until 13th November.
When we arrived the villa smelt musty and equipment showing wear. The refrigerator had an ice making section which wasn't working. The crockery and glasses were all mismatched. The cleanliness of the whole villa was very disappointing. The toilets particularly which we had to clean ourselves and they didn't flush properly unless we adjusted the plug in the cistern. The showers although water was hot badly needed to be de scaled. The visitors information was incorrect with times and days the housekeeper was supposed to visit and being November we had "some" rain and the gutters overflowed on to the decking continually.
After saying all this we did have a good holiday and when we complained to Villas of Tobago they did attempt to rectify things by opening new saucepans and crockery which were there waiting to be unpacked.
Since our return we have been in contact with Villas of Tobago who visited the villa and are trying to improve the property. For the price they are asking to rent the villa visitors would expect more, but it is such a beautiful house and we just hope that it is restored to how we remembered it when we first stayed there. We hoped our comments to Villas of Tobago were taken on board because it is the perfect position and villa to make a very desired holiday rental.
