We stayed at Avocado Cottage from 5 - 12 November and once we had acclimatised to the heat(30 degrees daytime, about 27 at night)and humidity, we had a great time. It was the end of the rainy season , which (to some extent) explained the humidity and the level of mosquito activity (Mosiguard was essential!).

Tony met us at the airport and gave us a very friendly and helpful welcome. In addition to transferring us to the cottage he stopped at the supermarket so we could pick up some provisions, and had also prepared a meal for us which was there when we arrived at the cottage, which was great. He also gave us another meal on our last day, before taking us back to the airport.

The cottage is in a great location, well tucked away from the road, so we were not overlooked and felt completely safe. Being built on the side of a hill meant the verandah was at tree top height, which meant we had great views across the golf course to the sea, and could also watch the birds (of which there were many, all brightly coloured and fascinating). We spent hours sitting on the verandah just relaxing and taking it all in.

When we did go out, we found that a hire car was very useful, because although the nearest beach was only ten minutes walk away, the cottage too far away from the nearest shops to do any shopping with out one. It was also great to have a car so we could explore the rest of the island (wwell worth it!). Again Tony helped us with car hire, using his local knowledge and contacts to obtain a good deal for us (better than any of the national car rental companies).

Accepting that Avocado Cottage is pretty basic (which we expected it to be), the only improvements we can really think of are that the bed and bedding in the bedroom nearest the door could do with being renewed (we didn't try the bed in the other bedroom, perhaps we should have); and the cottage really needs a good-quality tin opener!

All in all though, we had a fabulous time and would definitely go back, though in the dry season next time!

Many thanks again to Tony and Michelle for all their helpfulness and hospitality!
