Having spent a week on Tobago, we decided to spend the last 2 nights in Castara. We arrived there without having booked any accommodation and, by chance, were offered one of the Lillibets apartments. The owners, Liz and Tom, were in residence and were very welcoming and helpful, making us tea and giving plenty of advice on Castara and the surrounding area.

The apartments are built on the hillside on two levels and accessed via some steep stairs. Tom kindly helped us move our luggage up to the apartment as he was far more used to the stairs than us. Not recommended if you have mobility problems but you would certainly get fit going up and down the stairs for a week.

We had a first floor apartment which was very clean, simply but adequately furnished, with aircon in the bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped for self catering but, as we were only there for 2 nights, our catering was limited to making tea and rum punches! We bought fruit locally for breakfast, which we took sitting on the balcony watching the varied and colourful bird life. It was like sitting in the trees and we enjoyed feeding the birds on fruit and sugar.

Because we were in Castara for such a short time, apart from breakfast we ate all our meals at the Boathouse down on the beach. A very friendly, welcoming place with a nice laid back attitude.

Castara was a great place to end our trip and Lillibets was a good place to stay. We would go back if visiting Tobago again.
