We passed a delightful week in mid December at The Lookout. It was our 3rd visit to Tobago so this time we were looking for a place to relax at, with no pressure to be running round 'doing things'. The Lookout certainly met that requirement. It's in the rain forest a few hundred feet up, above Englishman's Bay. The magnificent views from the deck, the play of light on the Caribbean sea and the forest, the waves, the birds etc. positively encouraged relaxation. We loved the view which surely must be one of the best on the island. And even when there was an occasional shower, it would typically be followed by a full 180 degree rainbow!

We spent our first night on the island in the Crown Point area, stocked up for the week the next morning at Penny Savers in Bon Accord and then had a leisurely drive to Englishman's bay. As others have mentioned the track up the hillside to the villa can be tricky after rain with some areas of mud. A 4WD vehicle is advisable and we also wouldn't recommend trying to arrive for the first time after dark. There are a couple of 'junctions' (of tracks) and choosing the wrong one at night would be easy!

The house is well equipped with all the appliances in working order. The owners even provide a local cell phone which was handy for making a dinner reservation or confirming opening hours. Check out Steve Wooler's excellent review of the Lookout which would be hard to better. When you do want to go out, the location is great for the Main Ridge and the Northern end of the island, lots of very quiet beaches and fishing villages. Of course Castara is just 15-20 mins away with its restaurants, beach, fishermen and 'characters'.
We loved our stay here.
