T&T in Stanford 20/20 final

Post by Paul Williams »

Its good to see that Trinidad and Tobago have made the final of the Stanford 20/20 final in Antigua where they will be playing Guyana on Sunday evening.
This is the first major televised 20/20 tournament and appears to have been a major success the concept being this....

The Stanford 20/20 Tournament will feature 19 Caribbean countries vying for the top spot and the top prize of US$1,000,000. Structured as a single elimination knockout competition, the second-place team will receive US$500,000. Slated to be an annual event, the first tournament will take place between mid-July and September 2006 at the Stanford Cricket Ground adjacent to The Sticky Wicket Restaurant & Bar in St. John’s, Antigua. The cricket boards of the top two teams will receive US$200,000 and US$100,000 respectively, which must be used to develop and improve the cricket facilities in those countries.

For our friends in the USA who have not yet taken to the great sport I would suggest taht this form of the game would be a really good way to start (it will be broadcast on Echostar at 7.00pm Antigua time) as it ony take 2.5 hours and has something happening all of the time.

For us in UK it will be live on Sky Sports 1 at 11.30pm.

With the Soca warriors going to the world cup it has been a great year for T&T sport so lets wish them the best of luck tomorrow night.

Regards

Paul
