The hosts, Kurt and Ivy are local people, very welcoming and unintrusive.
The accomadation is part of the ground floor of their 2 storey house; very clean, the kitchen area was small.
Guests have sole use of garden with table, benches, umbrella and loungers and there is a car-port for shade. And a washing line.
The garden is visited by lots of colourful birds.
The property is in the centre of Castara, in the only flat area, with easy access to beach, tiny mini market and vegetable shop, fish market and 4 local restaurants.
The main beach is sandy and usually very calm.
The next beach is good for snorkelling (and a coffee) and is a 15-20 minute walk over a steep path.
There is a nice nature walk up the river to a secluded waterfall with pool for bathing (20 minutes walk)
Castara is a good location to explore the top end of Tobago with its Rainforest and more dramatic scenery.
Baywatch apartment is in the centre of the village and suffers from the noise of delivery and visitor vehicles, daily refuse collection at about 5am, barking dogs and sandflies on the beach particularly evenings. A good insect repellant is essential!
