We’ve just returned from a beautiful family vacation in Tobago. The Flamboyant suite was the perfect place to stay with our 3 kids - right on the beach and very comfortably furnished. The entire main living area (kitchen, dining and living room including the master bedroom) has huge windows facing the ocean with a view that is just breathtaking! There is a kitchen equipped with all the pots and utensils to cook your own meals, if you wish to. The 2nd bedroom has two single beds and the 3rd room has a futon that can be used as a bed as well. The 3 full bathrooms are all good sizes and there are enough bath and beach towels for a family of 5 with extras to spare! The unit is equipped with everything you could possibly need while on vacation. Two LCD TV’s, a washing machine and dryer, iron/ironing board, hair dryer and even a flashlight to go turtle watching at night and the list goes on and on. In other words… Flamboyant suite is fully furnished with lots of tasteful personal touches, which makes this apartment feel like a home away from home (a nice alternative to boring hotel rooms!) Enjoy watching the fisherman pulling in seine on an early morning or sit back and relax while watching the sunset right from your large balcony or the pool. There is an underground car park with gate and the suite has a safe and an alarm system for your comfort. We felt very safe there and never encountered any problems whatsoever.

As soon as you are finished checking out the inside of the suite… you must take a dip in the pool or the ocean – the water just looks so inviting! There is a small staircase that leads from the balcony to the pool. The pool area is like a tropical garden with flowering plants, palms and banana and lime trees and the entire grounds are very well taken care of. The pool itself is a bit small but in a perfect location overlooking the beach. Leave the garden area through a small gate and you are right on the beach where you can enjoy the crystal clear water of Stonehaven Bay. The beach is never crowded (not even on Easter weekend) and is a safe and quiet place to swim and relax.

The surrounding area of Pleasant Prospect/Blackrock has a couple of restaurants (some of them quite pricey) and a small mini mart. There are many reasonably priced, local food places in Crown Point and Scarborough, which are only a 15-20 minute drive away. I would definitely recommend getting a rental car for at least some of your stay so you can drive around the island to see many more beautiful things Tobago has to offer.

Now to the one and only down side we need to mention…
In April 2009 there was no Internet access in the suite and the telephone line was out of order. But upon arrival the very professional and helpful managers (Gillian and Paul) gave us a pre-paid cell phone that we used to make local and international calls. It can be topped up in most local stores and is quite reasonable and most likely much cheaper vs. using your cell phone from your home country.

Summary: We definitely recommend the Flamboyant Suite to singles, couples and families who are looking for a very clean, comfortable and lovely place right on the beach! The only thing you will regret is that your vacation is not longer!
