Very off hand, almost offensive greeting on reception. Rooms were remarkably spacious, but very bare and the touches of gloss brown paint made them rather institutional. They were also rather smelly.
At the end of the day though we had fabulous beach side accommodation, sand and sea right on our doorstep. The buffet was ok and not too big or crowded, set up in a beautiful 50 metre long open palapa the along the beach.
Some staff were rude and off hand, other staff were lovely, particularly those in the restaurant, although one day someone came along with a trolley scraping food into buckets, it was horrid, just like a bad school, and they were really surly about it. So always mixed.
WAter sports are basic and the only sailing dinghy was out of use and neither the hotel or watersports company were keen to take responsibility.
For the price and location, I'd recommend Turtle Beach as a convenient base for all the family with the best beach, especially as we saw Castara beach and the Footprints Eco resort beach which you couldn't really swim from.
