Rex Turtle dress code

Staying at the Rex Turtle in October with my 10-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter.
I've read that the dress code for the restaurant is for long trousers would that include my son or would he be able to get away with shorts?

Hi Rob

We stayed at the Rex in March/April this year & are also returning in October & there were definitely young lads of your sons age wearing shorts in the evening without any problems at all.

My son was horrified at the prospect of having to don his "school" trousers for meals.
