We just got back from a New Year's stay at the Coffee House Apartments. It was great. While not air conditioned, as some sites say, it was a wonderful place to stay for three nights. We arrived in the middle of the famous Saturday BBQ and steel pan performance. Both were very enjoyable. The gorgeous beach and waterfall are only a few minutes walk away. No bugs to contend with while sitting outside enjoying the warm breezes and fantastic meal in the evening.

The apartments are not huge but adequate if you can be a bit flexible. Most of your time will be out and around anyway. One aggravation was the roosters in town that start their crowing at 2:45 AM! We still laugh about that. Eventually you ignore them and sleep anyway.

Chino is one awesome cook. We had never had "bake" before this trip so we tried it several times when available. None can match the flavour of his coconut bake. His home made ice cream was incredibly delicious, too.

The drive there is not for the faint of heart. It is full of twists and turns and steep grades and people walking on the road and dogs on the road and building materials on the road. But it is gorgeous if you can pry your eyes away from the task of driving. Road signs are few and far between (like all of T&T) but anyone we met along the road was happy to straighten us out. We rarely met, let alone exceeded, the 50 KM/H speed limit.

Chino goes out of his way to ensure that you are having a good experience. It is not the Marriot but who wants it? If you need to be totally pampered and babied this will probably not be the place for you. It is kind of rustic and back woodsy but nice and clean. We'll take the friendly people, fantastic food, fair prices, comfortable accomodations and that beautiful beach. What more could you want?

Hello Al and Judi

I have just received an email from Cheno, who has just seen your post. He is delighted that you enjoyed your visit and most apologetic that the air-conditioning hadn't been fitted before you arrived. He is delighted to confirm that air-conditioning is now installed and operational in both apartments, as of yesterday.
