Having recently returned from the Kariwak for the second time I feel compelled to leave a review as a way of thanks.

We often stop in Tobago for a few days after visiting family in Trinidad to unwind and sample the Tobago slant on life which we have come to love so much.

Our stays have recently been so enjoyable thanks to the staff and owners of the Kariwak hotel.

In a nutshell

Location, near the Airport and Store Bay with easy access to everything. Aircraft noise is minimal and hardly noticed due to the Lush well maintained gardens in the complex.

Accomodation, despite not being updated since our previous visit 3 years ago the rooms are immaculately maintained with careful attention to detail by all staff. The rooms are in cabins spread out within the grounds blending effortlessly with the surrounding vegitation, and are spacious and simply, but very comfortably furnished.

This visit was our first with our daughter aged 2, who was very welcomed (mind you she's very cute & funny to boot!). I personally woundn't say that this was a family resort, mainly adults and families with one or two small well behaved children. The area around the pool was quiet, and the general ambience, serene and relaxing. That said, my daughter was exceptionally well looked after, with milk available for evenings and mornings and proper meals cooked for her in the restaurant.

We certainly were not made to feel unwelcome when she became tired and cranky (and noisy!), which can be quite often the case in other adult orientated hotels.

Our afternoons were spent relaxing by the small but well maintained pool, listening to the resident Jazz funk band rehearse, with a cool Carib in hand. watching the wide variety of birds attracted to the forna and rather large but beautiful caterpillers on one particular tree. Perfect!

We had one meal in the restaurant and several breakfasts which were very good with friendly attentive personal service.

Staff were attentive and very friendly yet unobtrusive.

The hotel allowed us to use a courtesy room as we had a late flight and supplied towels for us to use.

Both our visits to the Kariwak had followed hectic schedules in Trinidad, and we were instantly relaxed on arrival.

So if you are looking for a good quiet base to relax, not overun with guests, excellent gardens and good food, then the Kariwak is a must.
