Do they use flavour enhancer in Tobago?

My girlfriend who I'm travelling with is extremely allergic to monosodiumglutamate, also known as ve-tsin or MSG or E621, a mineral wich is used as a flavour enhancer.
It is found in all kind of readymade spice or herb mixes (like for chicken), boullion powder, marinades, soups, and in al kind of convenience food (burgers, KFC)
Its really serious, she once got into a allergic shock after a meal in chinese restaurant...
So, is there anyone who knows if those ready made mix products or boullion powder is used a lot in the tobagonian kitchen en how could we find out what is certainly safe to eat in local restaurants? (Speyside and Charlotteville)

YES!

MSG is very widely used - either as MSG, Vet-sin, or as a component of 'All Purpose' Seasoning or Meat Seasoning powder. Soy sauce containing MSG is also widely used. Most local meat/chicken/fish dishes involve seasoning the meat prior to cooking and often one of these ingredients is used (or several!)

Your best bet may be to go to your chosen eating place in advance and put in a special request for portions not to be prepared with these ingredients. If they use an all-purpose seasoning you will need to check the ingredients label.
