Well, we went back again this year. And was it as good as last time? Overwhelmingly YES! It was lovely to go back to a small, friendly hotel where many of the staff remembered us and were pleased to see us back. Christine had turned herself inside out to get us the room we had requested and although she wasn't able to be on duty during the first few days of our stay she made up for it when she was back on! And once again we met many really friendly fellow guests of all different nationalities, which is part of th charm of staying in a small establishment.

Overall we really thought the thing that we had been a little disappointed with last year had improved. Breakfast service is definitely much better and doesn't only just rely on Beverley. In fact one morning we were in and out within 20 minutes - a record and we didn't feel rushed either! One morning they couldn't do cooked food for the first 45 minutes because the breakfast chef was late on duty (he had overslept) but this was more than made up for by extra fruit and toast and a heartfelt apology from Beverley. Local breakfast was available on many mornings. Evening dinner service was good and the food was great. However, I definitely wouldn't go AI at The Toucan and in any case, it is within walking distance of so many other restaurants so what is the point?

Our only real disappointment (apart from the fact that Toco the toucan died last year and Bonkers the parrot now has gone to live at the other hotel) was that the owner was still very uncommunicative, but Christine, Beverley, Troy and many other members of the team more than made up for it. When we do go back to Tobago I really can't see us staying anywhere else. The Toucan Inn suits us perfectly.
