[The Bundies Family]

Our family of four are very experienced Caribbean travelers. We stay away from the resorts, and find joy in renting from local families. We want to experience the island. My wife was sold on Bijou Des Caraibes after reading the glowing reviews, not only of the accommodations, but of the lovely hosts, Judy and Ivonne. Though our expectations were high, our hosts far exceeded them.

Even though we had never met, from the moment we met Judy at the airport (which she temporarily skipped out of an evening of dancing with her husband to make sure she was there to greet us) it was as if we were old friends. Usually Judy takes guests to the bank to exchange money to local currency, and to the grocery store, but due to our late Saturday arrival, Judy instead stocked our refrigerator and forwarded us enough local currency to last us until Monday when the banks reopened. We didn't want to miss Sunday School in Bucoo! She arranged for our rental car, which arrived early the next morning. We didn't have to worry about anything.

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment. The accommodations were very clean and homey. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, and the pool came in very handy for end of the day dips. Our daughter loved that there was wi-fi in the apartment, as well as by the pool. There was maid service every day.

However, our hosts made the experience extraordinary. Judy was there to take care of anything that was needed. It seemed like her sole purpose was to make sure her guests had a wonderful time. My wife took lovely sunrise walks with her and two other guests every morning. When we had an unfortunate incident with our rental vehicle, she loaned us her car for the afternoon, rather than having us lose valuable beach time. She even organized a trip to a gorgeous remote beach, that we would have have otherwise missed, for us and all of the other guests. It was a trip to remember!

The island of Tobago ranks high on our list of favorite islands. It is beautiful and the people are friendly. We can't wait to go back, especially to stay with our new old friends.
