We absolutely loved our stay here! Charlotteville itself really is a working fishing village, and Pirates bay is the beach to head to, it's simply divine! It was our first time in the Caribean, and when we stepped onto our balcony on our first morning, we were blown away by the verdant hillside, all intact rain forest, just stunning!

We stayed in the room on the first floor, the room itself was clean and had a little kitchenette, fine for simple meals. The balcony was amazing, really spacious and great for lounging on and drinking some of Rainers coffee!

The owner, Rainer, is a really nice guy, really helpful regarding the area and anything we needed. He told us not to bother buying the bottled water, and that we should fill our bottles from the natural spring at the top of the village. At first we were skeptical as there was a little moss in the gutter. He kindly explained that it is regularly cleaned, and in fact great water that he and the locals drink. So, we did drink the water all week and were perfectly fine! No doubt it is much better for you than sanitized bottled water! Thanks Rainer!

As seems to be common knowledge, there is little luxury accommodation out of Crown Point. If you want luxury accommodation and resort style places, then Charlotteville isn't for you. Restaurants and shops largely open as and when they want. So you have to be flexible and go with the flow. But if you want to get a feel for the real Tobago and chill out, it is the place for you.

We absolutely loved Charlotteville, and staying at Top River with Rainer only helped this.

Thanks Rainer!
