Booked this as a "banker" for our first couple of nights before heading off for some rain forest adventures up north. At a reasonable distance from the airport and the main tourist hub it promised to be the right kind of vibe.

Arriving at around mid afternoon on the Thursday we were greeted by Winston who informed us that due to some unforseen circumstnaces the room we had booked was unavailable. No problem, we could have the little appartment overlooking the terrace at the same price. So no complaints there.

After a quick dip and a chilled Carib it became apparent that the "unforseen circumstances" involved a big accident in the bay with a yacht that had just come over from Africa, with a woman swimming behind, can you believe!! After all that hard work they had got snagged in some buoy lines in the bay and had lost power. Winds and swell crashed the poor old boat onto reef and the rest was history. What excitement! Pretty crap for the poor crew on the boat mind. Winston provided accommodation for evryone so at least they could lick their wounds with a cool beer and some top grub.

The reason I mention this bit is that Winston and his staff dealt magnificently with the drama and still provided a top spot for us to stay. It was the perfect intro into Tobago for what was our first visit. The room was basic but just right, nice and bright with a good shower, top views and a comfy bed. And great food too with Leonardo at the helm in the little waterside restaurant providing a distinctly Latin theme to the food. A top unspoiled beach (lets keep it that way!)is just 5 minutes walk away and the village of Buccoo is a great little place to hang out. We missed the Sunday School shenanigans but will catch it next time.

Would we go back? You bet. We plan on getting nicely acquainted with Tobago over the coming years and Winston won't have seen the back of us just yet. Thanks for a memorable stay and see you in 2010.
