I can happily recommend Lookout Villa to anyone who is considering it as their place to stay in Tobago.

My wife and I stayed here in Feb 2013 and chose it mainly because it seemed to be off the beaten track and 'fairly quiet'. It is in fact almost totally isolated and extraordinarily quiet. It is situated in a clearing in the rainforest and looks down onto Englishman's Bay, an excellent sunbathing spot. We travelled the island for a couple of days looking for the famous bird life of Tobago - forget it, sit in the villa with a beer and a sandwich, and they will come to you. Brilliant.

The villa is not luxurious (although with a bit of updating it would be) but it is certainly very comfortable. Showering with all of the wooden blinds raised is quiet an experience.

The track from the road is great fun (you will need a 4x4)and I think we saw two other cars on the track all week.

If you want to see some of the real Tobago then you would be well advised to stay here. We'd certainly go back.
