I stayed with Shirma and Clifford for 3 weeks during my elective. They were wonderful hosts! The room was very spacious with a wonderful bathroom, with laundry and cooking facilities. The apartment was down the road from the Bacelot beach club where we were able to buy drinks and use the pool which was lovely.

Clifford picked us up from the airport and made us feel very welcome, we also got a lift to the hospital every morning and you could take a taxi back which cost about £2.50 each with local taxis or £1 each with non-hired cars. As well as giving us lots of information about the local area, Shirma also provided us a phone with a local SIM card to contact taxis while we were there. The highlight of the week was the delicious Sunday lunch that Shirma cooked for us. When there was a weather warning about a potential storm, Shirma made sure we were fully prepared and lent us essentials such as torches. We felt extremely safe in the apartment and would definitely recommend to medical students looking to do their elective in Scarborough General Hospital!
