supply costs
Hello everyone -It's been a few years since I've been to Tobago and was wondering what costs of a few items are as everything in the US has gone way up . 1- doubles [ stumpy's - the mall ] 2- fresh fish , 3- beer [ in a bar & pennysavers ] 4- gas . Any info would be great as I need to save my pennies . I can't wait to be there again . All the very best - Rick

Super is 6.75 p/l - mine runs on anything so can't comment on premium. diesel is around 3.90 p/l. A price rise is incoming (+1 TT$ p/l). Cooking gas remains at $21 for a 20lb bottle.
inflation numbers put out this week suggest a rate of around 6.5% but, clearly, this is an aggregated number and those more cynical than i might even say "massaged".
eggs are 25$ and up per dozen, bread's up by a $ or 2. milk ranges from 12ish to 25+ if you want something speciality (almond, soya etc.) I know it's not quite the point but frozen goods still reasonable - blue shark steaks for $40 in pennysavers yesterday (2 per pack). Frozen chicken parts good value a tray of thighs for $22.
red apples around $20 for 6, brocoli $25ish for 3 good sized chunks. big (huge) avocado $20ish. pasta, rice, flour around the same prices. local sunflower spread $12, imports more than x2 that. local potatoes pretty good at the moment - just got a handful of well sized ones for $11 - imported x3 the price (at least).
a stag in my nearest mini-mart still running at $10/11; $14 in my "local" - will be much pricier in more salubrious establishments.
not got much of a liking for doubles but potato rota for $20 in Carnbee at lunchtime today
For me, the weak pound is the thing that makes the prices more noticable. it's dropped below 8 now for the second time since brexit (having reached the dizzying heights of 9.6 earlier in the year). I'm afraid the days of 11 or even 13 are long behind us brits.
