Well, I assume various young ladies ! We only meet the present girlfriend when it has lasted longer than a week - even then not holding my breath to see the same one again. Sorry to disabuse you but my G - string days were over decades ago, so bloody uncomfortable !

Thought I had made it very clear NOT my G - string. Plus the fact as son now lives elsewhere no longer a problem. Assume you are still sipping the rum. Anyway, Petes Pants are far more interesting - how those guys have travelled !

Carol
Getting the basque out of hibernation when unwell is not a plan I feel. OH may feel a little intimidated. Red nose and constant snuffling can be a bit of a turn off even to those of us who have lived together for years.

Oh come on ladies ... ever heard of a Man Cold?

It's is a serious condition and the consequences can be fatal if it develops into Man Flu.

No wonder the poor chap is sleeping downstairs

Dear Pete
Since when did men get a cold ? Always flu - always " have I written my epitaph "- always so very sad, a pain in the ass for everyone who has to be in the vicinity.

Ha Ha ... it's a shame that you ladies don't recognise the seriousness of this condition.

We need help ... I have a special bell in my house to ring when I am struck by this terrible condition and my boys come running to assist me ... they totally understand ... and the paramedics always respond promptly should that fail.

Regards

Boys Paul?
Do you mean your sons? Since when have sons, or any boys, been good nurses?
Sandra,
No I don't sleep downstairs when Himself has a cold; I'm made of sterner stuff than that!
I'm afraid my usual wisdom and wit are a little diluted today by all the Beechams and tissues, but here are my thoughts about flu:
Man Flu:
There is much controversy on this subject. Is there a flu virus that attacks only men or is it simply that men are such feeble creatures that they can't cope with even the slightest sniffle? Is the real reason that they can't cope due to the fact that they have more opportunities not to cope and to sit around moping and being waited on hand and foot? Assuming that it exists, if a woman caught this virus, would she be affected in the same way? More research is needed I believe.
Woman Flu:
This does not exist; of that there is no doubt. A woman gets a cold, that's all; no research required. A woman, unless perhaps she is single, does not have the time or opportunity not to cope. She still has the household to run, shopping to do, meals to cook, and if she is at home with small children, their needs to attend to. A mother cannot be ill. Children (and husbands) have no concept of Mum/Wife/Partner being human and vulnerable.
I can remember (warming to my theme now) when the whole family was struck down with a stomach bug. We were due to go for our weekly shop, which we normally do together, but Himself says: "I'm not well enough to go. Can you go and get the essentials?"
"But I'm ill too!"
"Not as ill as me."
Nuff said.

I'm keeping quiet as I believe that entering this discussion would be like walking on quicksand. There would be no escape.

In my view research not required. It is a known rule of the universe - men contract flu, women just get a cold. The so called stronger sex are a total bunch of wimps, but then, we knew that so not really a problem !

Tony
What a wise man you are !

Well, that's a new one - OH and son watch ET or Hook and cry, sorry, use lots of tissues. Soup never requested, always anything with mash. When I have a cold can taste nothing and not that hungry but they are both capable of eating a weeks shopping in a day. Should explain son comes home when "man flu " hits - sudden bonding with his father and duvets in sitting room. Time I moved on or what !

Mr Wooler,You are HERO to our race.We men have been attempting to educating these Zanussians into understanding what effect a nasty bug (given to us by our close living with aforementioned aliens) may,and yea can have and has a deleterious and disastrous effect upon us,the race of higher intellect and multitasking.
We with forbearance we suffer these ailments, not gladly, but in the line of duty as a MAN
