Hi David
Words fail me! I am so sorry to hear of your stroke. I am so delighted to hear that you are on the bend and still seem to be planning your usual trip to Tobago. The big worry, though - did you lose you ability to down a few Stags or the amber nectar?
Please keep us posted - either through the forum or direct. Fingers crossed that your recovery continues well.

David,
Get well soon!! For what its' worth, the same happened to my father a few years back, and apart from a slight loss of vision, he's now (touch wood), back to perfect health. Hope you make an equal or better recovery.
Lisa.
xx

David,
Sorry to hear of your minor setback. Don't let naughty photos start it up again. I prescribe an extended stay in Tobago for a bit of R&R.
Steve: Everyone knows that David's nectar of choice is clear, not amber.
Hugh

Hello David,
Sorry to hear that you have not been well and glad that you are recovering. Mary Lou and I send our best wishes and are looking forward to seeing you in Tobago in March. Don't worry about your mobility because after a few "cold refreshments" it won't make a damn bit of difference

Did I say that?
Gisella,
Sorry to hear about Sammy.
Good to hear from all the other regulars.
Bill

Hi David
Well I guess you can see from the rush of posts that we have all missed you here and are all rooting for you. I thought it strange that you hadn't been doing the usual count down. Anyway... hope to see ya in Jan/Feb 2010 - it's my round.
All da best
Tony & Janette

Dear all,
David, just because of all the nice posts and good whishes you should be better soon. But in the end I guess the only thing what helps will be to go to Tobago. If your doctor will let you go take the next plane and you will recover soon.
All the best from good old Germany.
Tony, if you meet David, don't let him drink too much but also not too less
Bill, good to hear that everything is OK with you.
Carol, you see how important this waffle thread is? For all of us and especially for David at the moment.
Lisa, let's touch some more wood (isn't it: knock on wood??). Can't be wrong for your father and also for David.
Peter, nice pics
Paul/Pete, can't you organize a health/tavel insurrance for David?
Steph, if David comes to Tobago I'm sure you will support him as much as possible.
All the best

Thankyou all for your kind wishes. As for the nurses unfortunately none were like the first picture, however when I woke up and was able to see a little the first nurse looked like an angel.
If I here anyone knocking the NHS I'll give them a knocking
Thanks all see you in Tobago,
David

Yes David, we only ever hear about the problems in the NHS, but the nurses who looked after my mum were wonderful, and she received the best possible care from her hospital.
Gisela, was that a little hint to me not to stay away?

David
What a bxxxxr ! So glad to hear you are well on the way to recovery and that Tobago is on the horizon. As long as you can raise a glass the legs won't matter.
Gisela
Sorry that Sammy has gone, hope Snowflake is doing well.

Hi everyone,
Cant remember when I last posted but I have kept an eye on you all.
David, I had been wondering about your conspicuous absence so I was shocked to read the reason but very pleased to hear of your good progress.Long may it continue x
Carol and David,Ta for your Kind words about the NHS. We do try but often take a bit of a beating.
We have been gearing up for the anticipated Swine Flu winter catastrophe. As anaesthetic staff in the front line of caring for the sickest patients when it occurs I have been tested for compliance with so many face masks that I am dizzy

We have all filled out skills competency questionairs so that we can be redeployed to plug staff gaps in other areas should the need arise. As well as my clinical skills I was obliged to admit to an ability to answer the phone, identify patients and direct people to appropriate areas.
heaven forbid that I am ever put at the hospital reception desk.A replay of the CCTV would show the latest Carry On film in the making
I suppose my next privilege will be as part of the first wave of people to recieve the new vaccine. Not looking foreward to that.
I had a lovely two week holiday in France with friends in August.Lots of fine wine, cheeses and fresh criossants to die for from the bakers van every morning.Tres bien.Actually Patrick the baker was quite a treat too
Unfortunately various family events and illness have preoccupied me hence the lack of posting. The worst being the discovery of breast cancer for my sister in law through her first mammogram after reaching 50. She will go for surgery next week for the second time in three weeks. It is tough one but we are staying optomistic. On the plus side we had a baby boy born into the family last week.
Nice to see you all filling the waffle pages up.I will be watching.
Love xxx

Good to hear from you nurse Gill, and sorry to hear about your family's problems.
I REFUSE to worry about swine flu, as I refuse to worry about bird flu, variant CJD, salmonella in eggs, whether the Super Volcanoe under Yellowstone National Park is going to erupt, whether the aliens have landed, whether coffee is or isn't good for you...
I know it's no joke, but surely swine flu is no worse than "normal" flu? I do wonder if some people will take advantage of the situation and claim to have swine flu just to take time off work. People will always jump on the bandwagon.
Anyway, glad that you enjoyed your holiday with the delicious French baker ( if you know what I mean)...magnifique!
Best of British to you during the flu season my dear,
love
Noe
PS Himself and Son have just returned after being away in Thailand for two weeks. My previously peaceful and tidy house is in chaos again. How do they manage it in so short a space of time?
