Hi Nicola,

Tobago is a welcoming, friendly and extremely safe place to go on holidays. You have absolutely no worries on that front. I get more nervous walking around the likes of Edinburgh or Galsgow than I ever felt in Tobago.

As far as Toucan Inn goes, well in my opinion it is one of the finest 'budget' establishments I have ever visited. It is clean, the staff are fantastic, and even though the rooms are basic they are extremely comfortable and a perfect base from which to discover the joys of Tobago. Also I found the pool to be of a perfectly adequate size.

I would suggest that Harveys comment about the nearest beach being 15-20 minutes away is somewhat exagerated, and I surely wouldn't call it a 'hike' but it does depend on how agile you are. For us we always managed to get to Store Bay, by walking along reasonably well maintained foot-paths, in under 10 minutes, and we were not running!!

Please try to go to Tobago with an open mind, if you go with expectations of danger and crime, you will ruin what could be the holiday of a lifetime.

Joe

Hi Harvey

I take you point, but with respect I don't run myTobago for users like Nicola so I will be delighted if my replies send them elsewhere. I found her post objectionable, to be frank, and don't think it was a genuine enquiry - just someone stirring things. Even more importantly, my reply was a response to the fact that she blitzed a number of registered users (and myself) with unsolicited Private Messages saying much the same. One of them complained to me. I sent her a PM suggesting that this was unacceptable and suggesting that she apologise to all the users she had approached without good reason, but she failed to do so - hence my response.
