For what it is worth ... I always use a T shirt and my pyjama trousers to protect my pretty flesh from the sun while snorkelling during the early days of my Tobago holidays ... OK !!, it may scare the fish but they can't have it all their own way !!!!!!!!

I sometimes use aftersun cream to stop my skin dehydrating and a little block is used to protect things like children's noses that get the brunt of the sun.

Another reason for my dislike of sun cream is seeing what it does to a small swimming pool.

It is quite simple ... you have to know your own limits, the strength of the sun that you are dealing with and, with time and experience, discipline yourself to initially short bursts of sun and increase gradually as the holiday goes.

It is risky I admit, but a worthwhile alternatibe discipline to infecting coral reefs with all that gooo.

Just returned from 2 great weeks where we did a lot of snorkelling and swimming plus generally being in the sun. We used P20 another "once a day" product. Available at the airport £17.95 for a bottle which should last one person 2 weeks, or in John Lewis for a similar price I think. Needs to be put on 90 mins before and has warnings about not using other products as well (moisturiser etc) but we found it worked very well on our pale English bodies. It was recommended by a follicly(?) challenged friend but I'm saying nothing.
