Just one more scientific fact to add to this very factual thread (or not), these insects are attracted to high levels of carbon dioxide

. Apparently this is how they find us in the dark. So I don't think the colour of clothing is going to help much. This probably gives some credance to the folk lore around marmite and other things which may affect our breath?!? Therfore since breathing out is the problem you simply have to not exhale to pass unnoticed!

Or drink plenty of rum punch to mask the CO2!!

Oh no ... I don't think so ... they love Rum Punch.
Henry's idea is interesting ... if all I need to do is hold my breath when making my way from my room to the sea (which is possible from the Naturalist Beach Resort) then maybe I could reduce my exposure, somewhat ...
... I might try that one although I hope no one stops to talk to me ... I cannot multi-task !!
Cheers

Paul - problems with multi-tasking? You disappoint me!
I wouldn't recomment cessation of breathing however - tends to have terminal results!
If mozzies etc really do follow CO2 - then I reckon none of us stand a chance! Think I'll just stick to multiple applications of "Off".

Don't worry Henry
I just got excited when Jane used the term 'Libation' that I had not heard for some years.
Like many English words, 'Libation' can have a double meaning.
It is often used in classic readings as a type of Religious annointing or sacrifice or it can simply be used as a term for an Alcoholic beverage ... to which Jane referred, correctly

.
Is this going a bit off topic?
Chaars
What do you mean, off topic?

I love the way this tread goes from serious and even scientific to absolute nonsense, and back.

So please keep posting, as I'm (like most of you I presume) trying to keep the spirit up till it's Tobago time. (5 weeks)

V ...
... may you be blessed by many 'libations' during your veritable and wholesome presence in Tobago ... one hopes that it is of the 'mean' type ...
