we are on the island since last night and would be delighted to greet you & husband here @ Summer Hill.
Do you still drink STAG ? :)

Cheers,

Hello Carol,

Not sure whether this is the right thread to share a humourous experience, but here goes:

Went for a haircut in Scarbro' the week before Carnival. Usually do this with a few more days sun tan to follow and then wear a warm hat back home.

A boy came in to the salon sheepishly and sidled up to the barber. No he wasn't after anything "for the weekend".

It seemed that he had been sent back either by his school or his mum for sporting a tarantula shaped "mark".

The barber said that he could have the hair shaved down to the scalp. The boy said no. Maybe that was not allowed at school either.

So plan B was implemented. The words "indelible marker" were muttered. The boy went back out and returned shortly.

After he had finished my trim, the barber carefully obliterated the design with the marker pen!

Only in Snake Alley!

Lovely story Frank, and this most certainly is the best place for it! :D

What a shame about the tarantula though. I'm all for individuality...

Maybe the barber should advertise this new "Service": Bespoke marks designed and then obliterated. Only the best indelible ink used. By appointment to the T&T Education Department. 1TT per mark. Tattoos extra.

Oh and I love your location: 45 minutes from Gatwick. Similar to me!

Hi Carol,
There's a subtlety involved in the location (45 mins from Gatwick).

If we're coming to Gatwick from Jersey it's 45 min by plane, it's also 45min by car from Bexley where we are at the moment!

It was less than 45 minutes out of Gatwick on 27th Jan when the Captain decided that we wouldn't be going to Tobago until a day later. He saved us from a rainy day however!

Greetings to all (especially Steve, David, Sandra and Andy) and of course a special bow to Her Majesty

Been a while since my last post; it seems I've been busy with a lot of other stuff. But the big day is nearly here and Mary Lou and I will be arriving in Tobago this Sunday the 28th. =D>

From looking at various posts it appears that David will be on his way home by then but that Steve & Sandra will be on island. I'm not sure about Andy (but I'm not sure that anybody is sure about Andy  ) Looking forward to meeting up with any or all of you.

We'll be in Castara with Steph & Brian staying at Seabreeze the first 5 days and then will be at Sandy Point Beach Club in Crown Point from Friday the 5th until we leave on the 12th. We won't have a car as I'm much to settled in my ways to even try to drive backwards. :?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Bill

Good to hear from you again. I wondered what had happened to you.

Yes, I am here - working my little cotton socks off. Actually, I don't mean to put you off your dinner, but as I sit here typing I'm not actually wearing any socks - or much else either!

I need to come down to the Sandy Point Beach Club during my visit, so I'll try to arrange it during the time you're there. My apologies if I don't make it. In the same way that I must apologise to Sandra and Andy - and David of course. I've seen nobody this trip.

To be totally honest, I'm not a natural writer and being two years since I visited Tobago I'm a little out of practise. So, it is taking me a lot longer to write the reviews than it should do. We have a very strict policy: we don't do ANYTHING or see ANYBODY until we've finished writing about whichever place we're staying at. We're now at our fourth place and moving to our fifth tomorrow and I've just started proof reading the draft of our current review - but then have to hand over to Jill. With just 12 hours to go, we'll just make it. So, I would LOVE to socialise and get together with people, but two beers and I'm anybody's and there no chance of writing anything. So, I have to be very disciplined. I'm sorry if this appears to make me anti-social.

Anyway, have a great trip and hopefully we'll get to meet.

Steve,

The next time you "speak" to us wearing socks and er, what else was it? "Not much else", would you kindly post a warning to readers so that those of us of a sensitive disposition can brace themselves. I first read your post at 9a.m. this morning and it's taken ten hours for me to recover some kind of composure.

Bill,
So you're almost on your way? My how time flies! it doesn't seem five minutes since you were saying, "only two years to go!"

Have a wonderful time and make sure you do everything that I wouldn't do!

Oh, and if you post whilst you're there, please make sure you are respectably attired first. Socks are optional.

Say hello to the sandfies for me!

Love,
Noe

Noe,

I may be old but you won't catch me wearing black over the calf socks with sandals and plaid shorts #-o

Time flies, except for the last month it seems to have been really dragging. It will be good to leave the snow and cold behind. Of course we haven't had it anywhere near as bad in Chicago as across the southern and eastern parts of the country.

Absolutely not Young Bill. Perish the thought!

Haven't you heard what visitors to Tobago are wearing this season? Tartan calf-length shorts, white socks, with brown wedge sandals, grey singlet with carefully positioned moth holes, Panama hat, enormous sunglasses and flowery jacket. For the evening, jodhpurs and psychedelic shirt with white tennis shoes, black socks.

Now, for the men....

I was searching the supermarket for that stuff you spray on your upholstery to make it smell like a summer breeze or a winter wonderland or other such nonsense when I came upon this air freshener:

Inspired by the freshness of exotic fruits enjoyed on a Caribbean beach enclosed by palm trees. You may want to build a sandcastle in your living room.

Remind me to buy it the next time I want to build a sandcastle in my living room.

Noe,

i had a good laugh reading your advice how visitors are supposed to dress this season
A good thing i am not a visitor. Police would arrest me and send me to St. Anns #-o

Bill,

well i have to admit, you can never be sure where i am ... right now in Trinidad, after 5 days in Toabgo last week, and numerous beverages with Sandra and Ken %*}
I am considering coming up on March 11th for some days, so there is a chance that we may attempt to empty some bottles together, before you leave :)
Do have a great time overthere !

Steve,

i hope by that time you will be through with your reviews and we get a chance to knock glasses / bottles etc.

Does anybody have an idea why i write so much about drinking ? Could it be your bad influence ?

Sandra,

Sounds like a good idea. We'll be in Castara staying at Ali-Baba's Seabreeze with Steph & Brian. The # there is 868-635-1017. As I said we won't have a car so you'll have to come there. Is there a # we can reach you at?

Hi Andy

We're here until the end of the month, so hopefully we can arrange something. Just give me a call when you're here (you have my cell number don't you?) and we'll fix something up this time.

Hey David!

Not sure where you're lurking at present, but I saw on the telly this morning that some Cornish fishermen have been signed up by a recording company to perform old Cornish sea shanties. They're from Port Isaac and call themselves "The Fishermen's Friends".

I intend buying their album: I like traditional music! 8)
