Getting to Tobago

We are travelling to Tobago with Liat (Barbados to Tobago via Granada). There is a 3 hour stop over in Barbados. What is the airport like in Barbados? Is Liat flexible, has anyone tried to pick up an earlier connector flight? Are they as unreliable as I have heard?

Hi

I had the LIAT experience last year.

I had no problems other than getting a little lost in Barbados airport which was in disarray due to refurbishment at the time ... if the work is now finished I am sure it will be OK.

As for the flight with LIAT ... no problem ... planes are quite old ... but you do get to see alot more from the air if you are travelling in daylight.

I have not tried to get an alternate flight, however the flights I took were not full and it is known as a 'flying bus service' with regular trips ... logic would have it that you would no problem with re-scheduling if there are empty seats ... but you have to check for yourself with LIAT.

The great thing is ... if you have enough time ... you can sneak off to a beach for an hour or 2 ... my family got a taxi to Crane Beach on our return trip and had real 'bonus' time.

You do not get charged the departure tax if you are there for less than 24 hours ... so why not make a picnic out of it if you can.

Hope this helps

Paul
