Can someone please clarify if Grange beach is the beach that is shown for Mt. Irvine Bay. There is a picture of Mt. Irvine Bay under "beaches" but does not say what the beach is called; or is it called Mt. Irvine Beach also, I'm trying to find accommodations other than the Mt. Irvine Beach hotel that is directly on the beach that is within a 3-5 minute walk to this beach. Thank you.

I believe that Grange Beach is the long beach just to the west of Mt Irvine Beach.
I have heard it also referred to as the 'Wall'. There are no lifeguards and it can be dangerous in heavy seas and I have seen surfers using it on a few occasions.
As for hotels on the beach nearby there is the Grand Courland down the road and a bit further on is the Turtle Beach Hotel near Plymouth. There are also plenty of villas and guesthouses in the Mount Irvine area. The Mt Irvine Hotel is not on the beach but on the other side of the road although they run a nice restaurant with beach facilities on the calmer west side of Mt Irvine Beach.
Hope this helps.
Regards

Hi Cindy
Sorry for the confusion. In pretty much all cases, you can assume that the photograph in the listing will be the main beach of that bay. The words 'bay' and 'beach' are pretty much interchangeable as the beach will seldom have a different name. If you click on any photograph, you will get an enlargement and more specific information about the photograph. The picture in the "Mount Irvine Bay" listing of the Beaches & Bays > Region 2 (Lower Caribbean) section was taken by me on the middle of the 3 beaches in Mount Irvine Bay. It is generally known as the "hotel beach" because it lies directly opposite the rear/beach entrance to Mount Irvine Bay Hotel & Golf Course and has a beach bar owned and operated by the hotel. It is the smallest of the three beaches in the bay, but it is also the prettiest of the three in many ways. To the right of this beach (as you look out to sea) is the main Mount Irvine Beach. It is actually all one beach, but a rocky outcrop separates the two blocking off access most of the time. You can see this in the photo in the listing.
To the left of this beach is Grange Beach, to which Paul refers. The only access between the Mount Irvine Beaches and Grange Beach is along the road that runs beside the beaches at this point. It is about 1/3mile or 500m between the two.
The only hotel accommodation in the Mount Irvine Beach area is the hotel of the same name. However, you should extend your search to the adjacent Bay, Stonehaven Bay, where you have a greater range of hotels, guest houses and self-catering accommodation.
