visited two carnival band locations (mas camp): the first is called Fantasia Production, located in Scarborouh at the corner of Hamilton and Burnett Street (at Ciao Cafe' turn left). Martin De Leon "renovated" an old house and is preparing costumes for next week.
The second one is called Buccoo-ology, located at the Buccoo Primary School. Two artists from Cleveland Ohio, Robin and Lizzie, are coordinating the efforts of several students of this primary school. It's from chidrens for childrens and they need help in the preparation of the costumes: today my two daughthers with some of their school friends will join the "team". It's a good opportunity for kids who likes art work and is open to anybody. The theme of the costumes of the four sections band is about Mangrove trees, Cow birds (inspired from the nearby affascinating swamp), boat/hats (Buccoo harbour), King Neptune, Devil Fish and Pelican moko jumbies. Everything prepared and to be prepared with recycled materials (newspapers, tins). Children can learn various techniques of batik, paper mache, weave and stilt dancing. Have fun !
