New direct flights from Scandanavia

Post by Glyn Kirpalani »

This will be good news, if it happens, as Scandanavians seem to enjoy the Tobago laid back style vacations, and get heaps of leave from work - plus their economies are not doing too badly, in the main:

Copy from the link: Swedish charter operator Apollo will next winter start direct flights from Scandinavia to Tobago, Norway’s Honorary Consul to T&T Rolf Holmen has announced. In an email reply to a T&T Guardian query, Holmen said from Norway that while trade between the two countries has been “steadily low,” T&T could attract more tourists from Scandinavia—Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland. “The “tourist industry has a potential to increase,” he said, but added that “crime reports from T&T frighten the tourists.”

What the T&T Goverment and Apollo must do, is to show the real facts and not only the official crime reports. Peoples who hasn´t been in Tobago might get scared when reading about the T&T crime, as they don´t know that 99% of all crime belongs to Trinidad.
In all, very few visitors in Tobago are affected by crime, even so in Trinidad, and those who are affected, well, bad things sometimes does happens wherever one go. Otherwise new visitors might still choose other destinations in the Caribbean.

I don't think that any other parts of the Caribbean offer any better security than Tobago ... anyway, most go to the resorts and rarely go places without a guide ... it's just the independent travellers that need to take note of the precautions about wherever they decide to stay or go and how they convey themselves to locals on their travels.
