I wonder if anyone can help me source a detailed large scale map of Tobago equivalent to the Ordnance Survey !:50,000 or preferably 1:25;000.
Stanfords in Longacre, who are usually the best, could only come up with a couple of very ordinary tourist maps that included Trinidad;though theydid say that an Ordnance type map of Tobago in three sections had been published in the 1970s but is now out of print and they had just sold the last copies.
I would also like to get hold of a rain forest map showing the hiking trails.
Maybe Iwill have to wait until my wife and I visit Tobago at the end of April, but is there a good map shop on Tobago?
Part of the enjoyment of a holiday for me is in finding out as much as possible beforehand, and for that this site can't be bettered. Thanks Steve.

Hi David
I've been desperate to get copies of Ordanance-style wall maps, but have never been able to find anyone with stock. The best I've been able to find is a 1:50,000 map of Tobago produced in 1991 by the Lands & Surveys Division of the T&T Ministry of Planning & Mobilization (what a mouthful!). I found it in a small bookshop in the TLH Building in Milford Road, Scarborough, at a cost of TT$29.
Other than that, my favourite map is the laminated 1:140,000 Insight FlexiMap of Trinidad & Tobago.
Hope this helps. If you find anything better than either of the above - PLEASE, PLEASE let me know.

Hi all
The airport shop/newsagents (with the lotto serving hatch facing the arrivals exit) sells a 1:50,000 map for just TT$25, but don't get too excited as it contains little detail compared with OS maps. It does, however, have more minor roads featured than I have encountered with any other "tourist" maps.

Thanks Steve and Glyn for the feed-back, I will get the 1:50000 map when I'm in Tobago.
I did come across the OS 1:25000 covering Tobago in three sheets, that I couldn't find in London, on
http://www.omnimap.com for US$51-15.
However it was published in 1963 and I imagine Tobago has changed a bit in 40 years.

Hi David
I'm sorely tempted, but with an additional $17 of carriage charges, that makes it $68 - around £37 - and I don't know that I can justify that. I wish I could see a section of the maps to be able to judge the detail. I particularly want to know the names of all the small bays, etc. Has anyone ever seen this map series? I'm not that bothered about it being published in 1963. Surprisingly little has changed in the overall layout - villages have just got larger, but basically everything is just the way it was. I took my parents back there a year ago to celebrate their 80th birthdays. They had last been in Tobago in 1961. They still recognised everywhere. We've be visiting Tobago since the late 50's and I swear that I still recognise one or two stretches of road that are still "under repair" since back in those days.
