Mobile phones

Me and my partner both have tri-band mobile phones, anyone any idea how we get them to work on Tobago?

To call each other, nothing else.

It would only be in emergencies (we'll have the little 'un with us).

Happy to be educated that it's not possible if that's the case!

Hi Marc

There's been lots of discussion on the subject in the forum over the past year, so you might like to use the Search facility for full details, but basically your phones should work fine. They will pick up the local TSTT service. I don't know about costs.

We used our Orange phones with no trouble in January this year. The TTST service covers most of the island with the usual poor reception areas in hilly areas outside of the major towns. The reception is bad in the north of the island once out of Charlotteville . Cost is expensive, Orange charges £1.30 per minute or part of a minute. The mobile companies seem to charge as soon as you access the system rather than when someone answers, so I had a number of 2 and 3 second calls all charged at £1.30 !

Many thanks, I'll only need in an emergency but thanks for the help.
