Our flight from Houston to POS to Tobago arrives at 11:30 p.m.! EEK! Suggestions for a clean/fairly inexpensive room?
This is our first time to the island (YEA!) - and we're staying 3 weeks, but cannot check into our resort until the next afternoon.
(Looking forward to reading as much as possible before arriving in June!)
thanks!

Welcome aboard!
Hopefully someone with experience of travelling to Tobago from North America can make some useful suggestions. There isn't a lot of choice and the only place we've had enough knowledge of to risk recommending is Leo's Place. Have a look at our page: http://www.mytobago.info/airtravel08.php

Hi K Smith, there are dozens of nice hotels and cheap guest houses in the Crown Point area where you can crash after getting off the plane late at night. My tip would be to scan the reviews etc on this site thoroughly for any mentions of unreliability or uncontactable owners/managers, because the last thing you need is to stagger off the plane and the owner is not there with a sign as promised, then the reception is shut, doors bolted. Of course to avoid this you could go upmarket and stay at the Coco Reef for 1 night. One thing is that nicer places will insist on a minimum 2+ night stay, so if you luck out you might be better off at Leo's place in Trinidad, with a changed flight to the next morning?

Hi K
My apologies - I didn't read your post correctly. With such a late arrival, I would strongly recommend staying overnight at/near POS. If your flight down from Houston is delayed - or if there is a baggage or customs delay at POS, you could well find that you can't get over to Tobago that night. Take the pressure off yourself and stay at Leo's or somewhere else close to the airport, then travel over to Tobago at leisure the following day. Other than that, I can only repeat what Glyn has said.

If you stay in Trinidad for the night, I can absolutely recommend the Piarco Airport Suites. Very close, free transfer, very friendly, very good.
And I absolutely recommend a daytrip to Asa Wright. You can enjoy the wunderful nature (hummingbirds!) and get back to the airport for an evening flight. The trip to Asa Wright was one of the best things I did in a 3 weeks stay in Trinidad & Tobago.

Couldn't agree more with Nicole about the trip to Asa Wright.
