Just an idle question, i happened to notice that on Fri. April 9th there were 34 people visiting this site at 3.05 a.m. I have occasional insomnia but i didn't realise there where so many of us about!!!! or,---was it lots of visitors with international time differences?
Give us a clue. Stella.

Hi Stella
Without viewing the Control Panel while it’s happening - or downloading the entire log file and analysing it - I can't say for sure. However, you correctly identified the international element. 3.05hrs in the UK is obviously late evening in North America and the Caribbean. I suspect that the peak was caused by robots or spiders, however. The site is increasingly visited by search engine robots who trawl the site indexing the content. Some of the robots/spiders are multi-threaded so appear as several unregistered visitors at the same time. I’ve had a quick look at my traffic stats, which separates robots from human visitors, but I’m none the wiser because all the main robots have visited the site since that time. There was no obvious major peak on Friday (in fact the whole weekend has been very low traffic). I think we must just put it down to one of those “flukes” when a good number of North American readers visited the site at the same time (10-11pm) as a number of search engines.

Hallo Steve, I,along with hundreds of people,am SCARED RIGID by LARGE spiders ,so as long as they are only titchy ones!!! Never had a clue how the internet works, you learn something new every day. Marc, welcome to the 'owl' group, the only time i'm up at the crack of dawn is for a few days after a really long flight. I've just had a return e.mail from Newton George confirming a trip---6.30 a.m.!!! Luckily it's only a couple of days after we arrive so with luck i should be reasonably coherent, it normally takes me a couple of hours to 'come round' in the morning and no, it's nothing to do with the previous nights intake of ginger wine. Stella.

Stella, I'm thinking that finally my body clock may fit in with local time! unless I've got it wrong and I'll be out for the count for even more of the day than usual!
