Sanctuary Estate

Hi - I've heard that the THA has "bought up" the Sanctuary Estate and will be completing the building of the hotel there. Just wondered if anyone had heard this or have any details? We rent one of the villas out for a couple of weeks in March each year and were thinking if this will help or hinder the Estate. Looking at the pros and cons - as it is, it's lovely and peaceful there - it would be shame if increased traffic and guests changed it. On the plus side the track/"road" running round the Estate would need to be improved to cater for extra traffic and I guess we could possbily use the hotel's facilities (whatever these are going to be!)......

Hi Jannie
Yes, the THA did indeed purchase the Sanctuary Villa Resort (for TT$24 million). They apparently claim that they intend to refurbish the site "in order to increase the number of quality rooms in Tobago". Don't expect miracles and certainly don't expect anything soon. I guess a number of years will go by organising appropriate brown envelopes with numerous contractors before a single tool is lifted. Then, given the THA's record, they will rudely ban entrance to anyone not wearing a suit. I despair, frankly!

Thanks Steve - we won't expect too much when we go out next month then! (A bit releved to be honest!) Sounds like good old THA business as usual ....
