We have just got back and had a great holiday. I will post some general points and other bits and pieces elsewhere. We stayed at castara retreats which was lovely accom modation- will put more on the accommodation branch.
We found castara and Tobago to be fascinating. The views are stunning. there are two beaches. The main beach is more of a working beach and can have a bit of an undertow some days. it was fascinating to watch the fishermen pulling in the seine nets and to help with it. Little bay was great for snorkelling and had a different feel. it was a great place to lime with locals and other tourists. We met Deb and Tom and Tony and Helen from this site on Easter sunday which was lovely. A local fisherman set up an impromptu barbeque for a few of us on that day. The wildlife around the village was great. The birdlife impressive even if you dont know much about birds. We also saw agouti and wonderful butterflies by the little waterfall which is well worth a trip. We found the locals very helpful especailly after a few days when they got used to your faces. The only down side to me was that many of the restaurants didnt open much or at all during our two weeks. Marguerites was the most reliable. Maybe it was because of the easter break . We ended up selfcatering or eating around the island. You need to get used to hearing loud reggae or soca music coming out of houses. we enjoyed this as it added to the atmosphere

Hi Helen;

I'm originally from Trindad and Tobago now residing in the USA.
I'm very proud that you and everyone else in this forum had a
wonderful time. It's unfortunate that most of us Trinbagonians take
our paradsie for granted. If I had to do it all over again I would have never left.
My dream is to be able to open a little bed and breakfast or at the very least a small convienience store on the island !
Take care
