Paul Tallet's rough sea observation.

Post by GervaisAlkins »

Hey, after reading Paul's recent Liquid Sunshine post I'd like to add my 'two cents'.
He mentioned noone predicted rough seas two weeks ago yet my fellow surfers from Trinidad knew about that swell 5 days before it hit on Thursday evening. We've seen the T&T MET office claim also that these waves are freak swells yet surfers from abroad know about them days in advance. Magic Seaweed might not always be entirely correct but it gives a decent idea if what's coming.
Also when it comes to liability for incorrect weather predictions, has anyone ever successfully sued the BBC for it's sometimes incorrect predictions?

Hello Gervais

Thanks for the feedback ... I have just picked it up here in General Discussions but I am more likely to get to it quicker in the Liquid Sunshine Feedback forum.

Surfers are a part of it and probably better than any forecaster in understanding sea conditions but I was also referring to people in general, tourists that take boat trips that don't understand it as much and are often reliant on the Boat Operator to determine if it is safe to go out to sea, hence my reference to the fatality near Mount Irvine in my post.
