SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON FILM LOCATION - DO IT YOURSELF TOUR GUIDE MAPS

Post by Jazz557 »

DO IT YOURSELF TOUR GUIDE MAPS of the Swiss Family Robinson 1960 film locations ...

The easy to find areas are of course, Pigeon Point, Grange Bay (The Wall) and Mt. Irvine. Craig Hall waterfall is just off the Northside road in Moriah so its an easy find. For Shipwreck Bay, Belle Garden, you may find the map helpful.

Richmond Point is accessible via a dirt road and a short walk through a field. Just choose a dry day!

Hope you enjoy revisiting the Swiss Family Robinson 1960 film locations.

I’d love to get some feedback.

Map showing some of the Swiss Family Robinson filming sites - John Dial Beach, Hope Bay, Tobago.

Swiss Family Robinson movie - The Robinson boys, Ernst (Tommy Kirk) and Fritz (James MacArthur) get into difficulty controlling the canoe. Granby Point is visible in this screenshot. Scene filmed at John Dial Beach, Hope Bay, Tobago 1959.

The part of the scene with the canoe smashing into pieces against the rocks and the boys wading out of the water, was filmed amongst the large rocks closer to the cliff at John Dial beach.

A small Disney film unit spent two weeks at Hope Bay back in 1959. The first week was spent building a pipe ramp, anchored by drilling into the rocks. This camera ramp ran alongside the cliff and then perpendicular onto the rocks out at sea. Filming of the canoe crashing scene as well as other promotional footage were done in the second week.

Crown Point businessman, Mr Joseph Alfred witnessed the building of the pipe ramp as well as the filming done at John Dial, Hope Bay in 1959. Back then, Mr Alfred was a schoolboy. Hi home was located on top of the cliff overlooking the filming location.

Map showing Goodwood on the hill (just after Studley Park). This is the Swiss Family Robinson movie location for the night scene with Fritz, Ernst and Roberta setting down for the night after escaping from the pirates.
